What is NukeDepot?

We scour the web for DotNetNuke modules and skins, and bring them to you in one convenient location.  Browse our pages, or search our content for components that will make your website stand out.  If you have an opinion on any of the modules, feel free to share it by completing a review.

This site is in the forming stages currently and will be taking shape as we refine our searching techniques.  We will also be adding value to the community through module reviews, blogs and eventually forums once a critical mass is reached.

If you are new to DotNetNuke, or, if you are searching for a web development platform for your business or personal use, read on for a brief introduction to DotNetNuke.

What is DotNetNuke?

DotNetNuke is a great platform for development of anything from personal websites to commercial grade e-commerce applications. It is an open-source framework built on top of Microsoft's .NET technology, which in itself makes it interesting.  Popularity of DotNetNuke has grown steadily over the last couple of years, and their home site - www.dotnetnuke.com has the potential of reaching half a million subscriber mark by the end of 2007.

Do It Yourself Installation

If you have a Windows machine that runs IIS 5 or 6, you can start hosting your own DotNetNuke site in a matter of hours. Microsoft now offers all of the necessities, such as ASP 2.0, and SQL Express for free, so you don't have to spend extra money. If you're interested in pursuing this route, the Creative DNN Magazine has a great tutorial on the subject.

Hosting Options

Most people, however, would prefer not to deal with so many technical details. Fortunately, there are plenty of hosting providers that offer easy, "one-click" DotNetNuke installation with their plans. For about $100 a year someone else can take care of the dirty work, and you can concentrate on the look and functionality of your site. If that sounds appealing, consider the following providers:

Site Setup

A very simplified description of DotNetNuke is a web portal in a box. It has all of the features of a website builder, such as creating web pages, and displaying content.  However, you can customize your site to a much greate extent with DotNetNuke. Add to it a fully functional multi-user environment with account registration, and role-based security, and you have a powerful toolset at your fingertips.

Skins and Modules

Skins define layout of your pages, and consist of multiple panes where modules can be placed. Modules are the functional components that serve a specific purpose within your site. Probably the most common component is an HTML block (including the text you're reading now) that displays your site's content. DotNetNuke comes with several modules to get you started.

When you're ready to go beyond the basics, browse the list of our items to see the type of functionality you can achieve for your website.
